Escafeld Teaching School Alliance’s

Existing Sheffield teaching schools King Ecgbert and Tapton joined forces in April 2014 to create Escafeld Teaching School Alliance.  Teaching schools offer Initial Teacher Training, CPD, leadership and succession development, school to school support, plus research into initiatives for improving education.

We are now working closely with over 18 'partner schools' across Sheffield to raise the standard of education and positive outcomes for children throughout the city, including training the next generation of outstanding teachers.

There are now many options available to aspiring teachers preparing to do their Initial Teacher Training, one of which is the School Direct programme; where the training provider is the teaching school itself and graduates learn from within a school environment right from the start.  Each individual course has an accredited provider which awards the postgraduate qualification for that programme.

At Escafeld Teaching School Alliance we are able to offer applicants a very broad range of subjects, and because we work with Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield, graduates can choose to study either a PGCE (60 Masters' credits) or a PGDE (120 Masters' credits) respectively.

We work with our partner schools across Sheffield to provide training placements in a variety of contexts, preparing graduates for a successful future in teaching.  We support you in the professional recruitment process, and can often fast-track our trainees to the interview stage should a suitable vacancy arise at one of our Alliance schools.  Once qualified, Escafeld TSA has a wide range of CPD and leadership development opportunities to help you further your career.
