Breakfast Club runs from 8.15 to 8.40am each morning and provides a quiet and calming start to the school day. Breakfast Club is free to all children.
From September 2013 the Government allocated funding directly to primary schools to support the provision of quality PE/sport. Each school received £8 000 plus an extra £5 per pupil each year. In order to get the best value and maximum impact for our children, we plan to use the money to:
All meals are cooked in the school kitchen by Taylor Shaw. Children are able to choose daily what they would like for their lunch. There is always a hot dinner option and then either a jacket potato or sandwich option depending on the day. School dinners are to be paid once a week. The kitchen provide English, Halal and vegetarian options.
Children are welcome to bring a healthy packed lunch or go home for lunch.
The school uniform at Lowfield consists of black shoes, black or dark grey trousers, skirt or pinafore dress, white or royal blue polo shirt and royal blue sweatshirt or cardigan. You can download an order form from the link above or contact the school office.
For Health and Safety reasons all children must change into suitable clothing for PE lessons. Your child will need:
During PE lessons long hair must be tied back to prevent it obscuring pupils’ vision or becoming entangled in apparatus. Earrings MUST NOT be worn during PE lessons and they can not be taped. Staff are not allowed to remove earrings due to health and safety guidance.
Y4 pupils will need a swimming costume and a towel for their weekly swimming lesson.
We try to encourage children to take care of their own clothing and endeavour to ensure that missing items are found. It is helpful if you mark your child’s clothing with a name tag and other items should carry some form of identification. Any items that are left around school are usually collected and placed in the lost property box outside the dining hall.
Following new Local Authority guidelines, children are not allowed to wear jewellery in school.
Mobile phones are not allowed in school. If mobile phones are brought into school by mistake they must be handed into the office for safe keeping until the end of the school day.
We wish to avoid the distress, which occurs when children’s property is lost or damaged in school. We would therefore be grateful if you would ensure that you child does not bring the following to school:
We ask you to accept that the school cannot accept responsibility for the safety of such personal items.
Whilst we realise that accidents do happen, we may have no alternative but to ask parents to pay the replacement of lost or damaged books and other school equipment. Parents will be asked to pay for costs arising from the wilful damage of school property and equipment.
Following Sheffield City Council guidelines, smoking is not permitted on the school site.
